kev.fm

A near-realtime radio station, curated by hand, run & inspired by kev/n.

Why

kev/n found himself constantly sharing cool tracks with friends — DMs, group chats, “you have to hear this” voice notes at 2am. kev.fm is what happens when you turn that habit into a station.

One playhead, same track for everyone, all the time. If you hear something here, kev/n (or a mod he trusts) thought it was worth sharing.

How it works

  1. You paste a URL. Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, Suno, or anywhere with a playable link.
  2. Mods decide. Approval is a yes / no. The bar is “would kev/n play it?”
  3. It enters rotation. A weighted random scheduler picks tracks for the upcoming queue. Recently-played tracks are de-prioritised so things stay fresh.
  4. Mods can boost. A boost gives a track a 3× weight bump for the next week — it will come around more often until the boost expires.

What “near-realtime” means

There's no real audio stream behind the scenes — that would need a dedicated streaming server. Instead, the playlist is pre-scheduled with absolute start times. Every listener loading the page sees the same track at the same moment, the same way everyone watching the same train pulls into the station at 7:42.

Some embeds (Spotify, Apple Music) require you to be signed in to their service to hear full tracks. Others (YouTube, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, Suno) play full audio out of the box.
